Over the past 9 months, I’ve taken a deep dive into the French, Italian, and Spanish nation archives on a quest to learn more about the performers who took the stage at the Exhibition Universelle de Paris in 1889.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve been fortunate to uncover loads of beautiful primary source images, eyewitness accounts, production documentation, reviews in newspapers, posters, playbills, and even in police reports!<\/span><\/p>\n

This is unpublished and fresh archival research!\u00a0 In this talk, you’ll learn all about the dances, performers, and stages where a fairgoer could see one\u00a0 of the numerous folk dances included under the umbrella term, “Danse du Ventre.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
